8/28/2023 0 Comments Ps4 loudfan![]() Yea fortunately I have my own place and it doesn't bother anyone, I can just turn up the TV. It may not be my system but the game itself. Before posting here I searched google, and I found another post from someone with the same issue playing this game. Hmm.the fan just sounds soooo loud, if it starts again, I may not even play this game to help prevent my machine from burning up. So it sounds like you just played through the fan noise and never had any system issues. Pdestefanis - Thank you very much, that makes me feel a little better. Thank you in advance for any insight you can offer. One particular game causes your fan to go crazy, where no other game ever has caused this issue? It was late so I did not have a chance to test the new download.īut.have any of you ever seen this happen. Ive since deleted the problem game and have redownloaded it from the PS Store. I played Omega Quintet for about 30 minutes, and no problem with the fan. Now Im thinking, my PS4 has issues so I thought Id load up another pretty graphic intensive game (Omega Quintet which I just beat after 150 hours with no fan noise ever) and expected to hear the fan go crazy again so then I could start to cry. So, I then quit the game and the fan went silent again. Once again, as soon as I got out into the battling area, the fan fired up like it was trying to cool my house. OK I thought, maybe it just booted the game up weird and that was causing the issue so I launch the game again. As soon as the game was closed, then fan dropped back down to being silent. So.being nervous that my one year old PS4 Pro was going to melt before my eyes, I used the PS menu system to close the game application. It almost sounded like a jet was taking off (thats a bit of a hyperbole, but Im just trying to stress how loud it was). And when I say loud.Ive never heard it this loud before. About 5 minutes into being out in the "field", the fan on my PS4 Pro starts getting loud. I eventually get to the point in the game where I can go do some fighting. Started playing it last night and the first hour of introductions and general chit chat everything worked great. I just bought ($50) and downloaded a game called Dark Rose Valkyrie from the Playstation store. ![]() Anyways, after 2 hours of polishing I got completely flat heatsink base, applied some regular mx4 thermal paste I found around the house and assembled everything back together.Got a weird one. The interesting fact is that the chip was touching only elevated parts of the copper base, not sitting in the cooler groove, but across it, making the worst possible contact and really bad heat transfer. I found out that copper base is concave, has almost a hole in it and makes really bad contact with the cpu crystal. then i’ve noticed tiny concentric grooves in the copper and decided to polish it out. Fan looked completely ok, radiator copper base looked ok too. Then I carefully looked at the fan and radiator. So I took the console completely apart and to my surprise barely found any dust inside, ps4 was kept really well. Let’s take a look inside, I’m ok trashing the console, but whatever happens, I’m definitely not destroying the external enclosure. Some experimented replacing stock thermal paste to “liquid metal” gallium based thermal paste, others modified fans or even installed AIO liquid cooling systems! Well, I thought. Google search revealed that many people do all kinds of mods to solve this issue, from simple 3rd party plug and play external fans to drilling a hole in the enclosure and installing pc noctua fans right into the enclosure. So I thought: damn this is why the console was so cheap. More than than, it looks like sony had released an updated, quieter revision to PS4 pro. A lot of people complained about fan noise and said that it’s an inherent problem of the first revision. It looked like I was not the only one having this problem. So I went to ifixit for disassemble instructions, got a can of compressed air and googled “ps4 noise problem”. It’s just dusty, I thought at first, fan needs cleaning and that’s all. To my surprise, upon starting the game the console immediately went to fan overdrive on the game menu screen. Gotta try all that 4k glory, huh? :) So I got myself a used ps4 pro in a really nice condition, brought it home and got myself Metro: Exodus. Decided to upgrade from ps4 to pro, after realizing that I have 4k hdr monitor on the table. ![]() Tldr: polish ps4 heatsink base to make it flat and replace thermal paste -> no noise.Īnw. It’s my first post on reddit ever, apologies if i break any rules
